Abstract

|
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of Scutellaria barbata Don Water-extracts on growth inhibitory activity of cervical cancer.
The results of this study were as follows:
1. Scutellaria barbata Don Water-extracts showed a potent inhibitory activity on uterine cervical cancer cell of Hela cell by tumor cell specific cytotoxicity. cytotoxin.
2. The number of uterine cervical cancer cells using Hela cell was significantly decreased in treated group as compared with control group.
3. Scutellaria barbata Don Water-extracts affected the morphological change of Hela cell during the treatment of the extracts.
4. Scutellaria barbata Don Water-extracts significantly inhibited de novo protein biosynthesis of Hela cell.
According to these data, it was suggested that Scutellaria barbata Don Water-extracts, a tradition medical plant in china, merits investigation as a potential cancer chemopreventive agent in human, especially in uterine cervical cancer. Furthermore it was also suggested that Scutellaria barbata Don Water-extracts showed inhibitory effects on growth of uterine cervical cancer cell.
